Romania will take over the presidency of the EU Council in 2019, and the logo to be sent to Brussels will be the Dacian wolf, ‘Adevarul’ informs. The decision was taken following a competition organized by the Ministry for European Affairs.

The jury of 19 people was made up of representatives of advertising agents, as well as journalists, including Rareş Bogdan, Dana Grecu, Sabina Iosub and Bogdan Chirieac. Sources in the jury have told ‘Adevărul’ that the decision in favour of the Dacian wolf was made by an overwhelming majority of 80%. 122 proposals were launched and 19 logo proposals were selected in the first phase, published by journalist Dan Carbunaru on his Facebook page.

November 9 was the deadline for announcing the winner.

The Ministry for European Affairs, which prepares Romania’s presidency of the EU Council in the first part of 2019, has organized, together with the Ministry of Education, a competition for the establishment of the country logo.

According to diplomatic sources quoted by ‘Adevarul’, the Ministry for European Affairs received 122 logo variants, of which 19 were selected in the first stage. “Of the 19, the jury has chosen 4 in the end,” the sources said.

Last week, the jury, consisting of 19 people, gave the decisive vote: the Dacian wolf came out, a drawing made by a student.
