The frostiest morning in Romania so far this winter: -11C in Bucharest, -18C in the country

Freezing  temperatures were reported all over the country this morning, with temperatures as low as -18 degrees Celsius. Extreme cold was also recorded in Bucharest: -11C were felt at Băneasa station at 9 a.m. The roads were covered with poles
It’s freezing this morning in Bucharest, minus 11 degrees Celsius is recorded at Băneasa station, while it was minus 11C at Afumați. The remaining snow and moisture on the streets have frozen and make traffic in the Capital much more difficult than usual at this time.

The day started with frost across much of the country, but the weather will remain cold throughout the day. Temperatures will be between minus 5 degrees in the depressions and 8 degrees in the Western Hills. There will be no rain or snowfall and only the wind will gain strength in Moldova and in the south of Banat.

Tomorrow it will snow lightly in the mountains and in the northern half of the country, and at high altitudes there will be gusts of 90 km/h. It’s getting warmer since Wednesday.

In the middle of the week, the wind will blow strongly, but we will have 11 degrees in thermometers, snow in the mountains, in the center and in the north and rain in the rest of the country.

On the other hand, there is a flood alert on several rivers in the west of the country. The warning issued by hydrologists is valid until noon in the counties of Bihor, Timiș, Satu Mare and Arad.
