The largest ship in the world used to search and recover deep-sea diamonds will be built at Mangalia  Shipyard, reports a press release by Damen Shipyards.

The 177-metre long ship will be also the most modern and high-tech ship around the globe to go on such missions.

The beneficiary of the ship is De Beers Marine Namibia (Pty). The company is operating off the southwestern coast of Namibia at a water depth ranging from 90 to 150 metres.

According to the Damen Offshore sales manager, Ruud van der Stroom, the order placed by De Beers Marine Nambia has been quite a challenge, as it means to design a customized, unique sized ship.

The contract to build the ship was signed in February this year and construction works have already started, the press release informs.

The construction will last for two years, while the first diamond delivery is estimated for the second semester of 2022.
