The National Federation of Parents initiates a public initiative by which parents are encouraged to get directly involved in the prevention of drug use among children and adolescents, especially since traffickers offer more and more synthetic drugs, which are very dangerous to health.

“We must unite in this effort to prevent and block our children’s access to drugs; we must understand children’s emotions. We are launching a national appeal to all parents of teenagers, teachers, opinion leaders, competent authorities and institutions, to join the Federation in this social initiative”, explains Eugen Ilea, president of the National Federation of Bucharest Parents, which is launching the campaign to raise awareness of this phenomenon in between parents and children entitled “Let’s stop the madness”. Drugs are an abyss, an illusion!”.

FNAP is developing this campaign with the help of a group of psychologists and psychotherapists, addiction experts, lawyers, professional communicators and public policy specialists, together with hundreds of volunteers, parents and children, determined to contribute directly to the prevention of drug use of any kind way. To join, send a message to the e-mail address: bucuresti@fnapip.ro.

The first institutional partners of FNAP in this campaign are the National Anti-Drug Agency (ANA) and the National Anti-Doping Agency (ANAD).

More than 70,000 children between the ages of 13 and 16, inclusively, consumed cannabis at least once in 2021. The figure results from the calculation of the percentage of 8.7% made public by the National Antidrug Agency in the 2022 report (link, page 23), related to the cumulative number of children in the mentioned age group, of approximately 810,000, according to the 2022 population census (link, table 1.04).

“In reality, there are many more children who use drugs, which shows us that the scourge of drug use has reached alarming levels, especially since the age at which they start using has decreased to 10 years, and we, the society, must we mobilize to save our children and help them become healthy adults”, comments Eugen Ilea, president of the Bucharest National Federation of Parents.

“Without a doubt, drugs change children’s psyches, destroy their minds and bodies, ruin them physically and intellectually, transform them. We lose our children because maybe we are not paying attention, maybe we don’t know what to pay attention to, maybe we don’t react in time and meaningfully. It’s time to act and be with our children!”, says the Parents Federation.
