Royal family to make symbolic trip on Romania’s National Day

Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, next to Maria Magdalena Archduchess of Austria and her husband, will make a symbolic trip, in the royal train from Sinaia to Bucharest on Romania’s National Day, as a tribute to King Ferdinand and Queen Maria .

Princess Maria and prince Nicolae will participate to the royal trip next to Her Imperial and Royal Highness Maria Magdalena Archduchess of Austria (daughter of Ileana Archduchess of Romania) and her husband.

This year, the royal family chooses to make the stops in Ploie?ti, Foc?ani, Râmnicu-S?rat, Buz?u and invites the citizens to join them and pay a tribute to the founders of Greater Romania.

The royal family will arrive at Sinaia train station at 9 o’clock and will depart at 9:08, will reach Ploiesti South train station (Ploiesti Sud) at 10:19 where it will make a short stop for 19 minutes.

The next stop is Buzau, at 11:55, than Râmnicu-S?rat, at 12:47, next is Focsani at 13:45. The royal train will leave for Bucharest at 14:15 and brings the royal family at Baneasa Station.

King Ferdinand I ordered the train in Italy in 1926 but it was delivered only after his death, in 1928.

The royal train started being used by the Royal House of Romania in June 1928 during the first reign of King Mihai I. It was used by King Carol II (1930-1940) and Mihai I (1940-1947) and also during the Communist times when it served as the presidential train.
