Update: Three Romanians injured in Bologna explosion, Foreign Ministry announces

The Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) has announced on Tuesday that three Romanians had been injured in the explosion in Bologna, northern Italy, on Monday that killed at least two and left 84 injured.

According to latest information provided by the Romanian General Consulate in Bologna, one of them has already been discharged from hospital, while another one is still admitted to a medical unit to benefit of specialized care. His condition is stable.

Previously in the morning, MAE had announced that only one Romanian had been injured. He was the driver of a truck hit by the tanker truck which exploded on a crowded motorway in Bologna. The Romanian lives in Italy and he has suffered “superficial wounds”.

According to preliminary information provided by the Italian authorities and subsequently confirmed by the consular staff, the driver of a truck stationed in the motorcade hit by the tanker truck is a Romanian citizen residing in Italy,” reads a MAE press release.

After receiving medical aid, the Romanian citizen has been discharged from hospital, remaining in contact with the representatives of the consular office,” MAE further informed.

Italian Police said the accident and subsequent blast killed at leas two and injured up to 84 people, some with severe burns, so at least 14 of them are sin serious condition.
