The citizens of Brasov have witnessed a very unusual episode, which has scared those who saw tons of frozen fish falling down from airplanes.

Braşov County citizens have noticed in recent days some light aircraft over-flying the county and they have thrown down hundreds of kilograms of frozen fish. Why, they wondered.

An ample operation was triggered nationwide for the vaccination of animals, especially foxes, against rabies, newsbv.ro informs.

Twenty tons of frozen fish are were thrown by ten ultra light aircraft to the forested areas of Arges, Sibiu, Brasov, Caras-Severin, Timis, Hunedoara, Arad, Mehedinti and Gorj counties. The operation is part of the autumn vaccination campaign of foxes against rabies.

As these animals are attracted by fish, when they eat it, they will automatically be vaccinated against rabies as each piece of fish has a pill against this disease. Also, according to official data, during the past 8 years, since such operations are conducted, the level of sicknesses has dropped countrywide.
