The first train Transylvania EuroCity connecting Cluj-Napoca to Vienna (via Budapest) inaugurated the journey on Sunday. CFR Calatori, in partnership with the rail companies ÖBB (Austria) and MÁV-START (Hungary) have reached a deal to collaborate for the new route to Vienna from Cluj.
Transylvania EuroCity train, equipped with air-conditioned wagons, will make direct connection between the heart of Transylvania and two European capitals, Budapest and Vienna, also transiting Oradea (western Romania), monitoruldecluk.ro informs.
CFR Calatori informs that the price of a ticket from Cluj Napoca to Vienna is RON 135 (EUR 29) for the second class. A similar ticket on the route Bucharest-Vienna is RON 182 (EUR 39).
The timetable for the trains IR 143 and IR 144 is as follows, daily, with 23 stops:
– Cluj-Napoca (07:35h) – Budapest (14:20h/14:40h) – Vienna (17:21h)
– Vienna (10:42h) – Budapest (13:19h/13:40h) – Cluj-Napoca (22:25h)
According to the timetable, the trip (660 km) lasts 10 hours
On Sunday, about 60 passengers embarked aboard the train, with 15 more embarking at Oradea, digi24.ro reports.
