Trains from Bucharest to Thessaloniki, Istanbul, available as of today

The first trains to Thessaloniki or Istanbul are leaving from Gara de Nord, Bucharest as of Friday, with the price of a ticket starting from EUR 45.

The cheapest air travel tickets to these destinations are around EUR 56.

CFR Calatori is launching the train to Thessaloniki and Istanbul for this summer season, with the route being available until September 4.

For the Bucharest-Sofia-Thessaloniki route, the train will have four carriages (two for the economy class, one sleeping car and one couchette) and will travel once a week, leaving from Bucharest on Friday and return from Thessaloniki on Sunday.

A ride is EUR 45 for the economy class, EUR 52 for couchette with 6 seats and EUR 58.5 for sleeping cars.

The ride to the Greek city lasts 17 hours and the return to Bucharest 18 hours.

The train ride to Halkali, Istanbul in Turkey costs EUR 49 for the couchette with six beds, EUR 54 for 4 beds, EUR 62 for the sleeping cars with three beds and EUR 73 for the sleeping beds with two beds.
