A bear cub died and another one was injured after being hit by a car on DNA 13A, between Praid and Ocna de Sus in Harghita county, central Romania. The driver is a 39-year-old man from Constanța.
A vet was called on the scene to give the first aid to the injured bear cub. The dead cub was taken over by the Environment Ministry.
The bear population in Romania has been on the rise in the past years, with many incidents involving bears being reported. Some local authorities, especially the ones in the counties with mountain areas, complained to the Environment Ministry about bears attacking people in the villages.
In the tourist mountain regions, on the other hand, there have been more and more reports on people taking selfies with the bears that were down the mountain to look for food on the roads or even in localities.
