Two weeks have passed since the fire from the Colectiv nightclub, by far the most tragic accident happened in Romania in the past 25 years.

27 persons died on October 30 following a fire burst in the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest ar 22:32, during a concert of “Goodbye to Gravity” rock band attended by hundreds of persons.

The fire was caused by the fireworks used during the show, with flames seizing the club’s ceiling and piers in just a few seconds. A stampede for the exit followed, as only one door was open.

In the following two weeks, 28 more injured persons passed away, all of them youngsters, aged from 15 to 40: four of the five members of ‘Goodbye to Gravity’ band, musicians, journalists, photographers, architects, engineers, corporates, students (two 20-year-old foreign students) and high school pupils.

On Friday, exactly two weeks since the tragedy, a new injured patient in the ‘Colectiv’ fire died, rising the death toll to 55. 29yo Loredana Dărescu has died in the German hospital where she had been transferred from the Hospital for Burnt in Bucharest. She was from Braila but she was living in Bucharest where she was working for an American company.

Five injured in the ‘Colectiv’ fire were admitted to various hospitals in Germany, with three of them leaving on their own, a German citizen included, while the other two persons had been transferred.

However, good news are coming from Israel, where photographer Cătălin Ilnițchi, seriously injured in the blaze, is admitted at Sheba – Tel Ha Shomer Hospital. Israeli doctors reported that he began to respond to the treatment well and that he breathes on his own. However, doctors are still keeping him sedated to bear pains more easily.

Photographer Cătălin Ilnițchi was seriously injured. When the fire burst, the young man was right near the stage where ‘Goodbye to Gravity’ was performing.

Ilnițchi is working as an engineer in Bucharest, and he is collaborating with a rock music publication in his spare time. On October 30, he arrived at the “Goodbye to Gravity” show at the last moment, replacing another colleague who couldn’t make it to the nightclub to take photos.

After arriving in critical condition to Floreasca Hospital in Bucharest, numerous appeals were posted on Facebook, asking people to donate blood for Ilnițchi, as he had a very rare blood type AB, Rh negative.
