The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued a Code Orange warning regarding strong intensification of the wind, storms, hailstorms and significant rainfalls, in force in about one-third of the country on Wednesday from 10:00h to Thursday at 3:00h.
In the mentioned interval, in the counties of Dâmboviţa, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Prahova, Buzău, Brăila, Ialomiţa, Călăraşi, Ilfov, Vrancea, Galati, Braşov, Covasna, Harghita, Constanţa, Tulcea and in Bucharest, in the mountainous areas of Mureş and Bacău there will be periods with strong wind (gusts of over 80-100 km/h), storms, medium and large hail, frequent electric discharges and torrential rain.
In short intervals or by accumulation, the quantities of water will exceed 40 litres/sqm and 50 to 70 l/sqm on isolated areas.
The ANM has also issued a yellow code, valid in the same interval, in several counties.
Romania was under heat wave on Tuesday, with temperatures exceeding 36-37 degrees Celsius and high thermal discomfort.
ANM issued on Tuesday a Code Yellow warning for storms for half a country.
The warning for heat wave is in force until Thursday, at 10.00h.
Meteorologists warned on Tuesday that Bucharest will face unstable weather on Wednesday, mainly in the afternoon and during the night. The warning for instability comes into force on Wednesday at 9.00h and is valid until Thursday, at 10.00h, with rainfalls, electric discharges, wind gusts and storms expected.
