The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued on Wednesday a warning for strong winds throughout the country, and for precipitations as sleet and snow in some regions, especially in mountainous areas. The warning is valid until Friday afternoon.
According to meteorologists, during March 15, 23:00h – March 17, 15:00h, precipitations will fall in the mountains, mainly as snow and especially during Thursday (March 16) and on the night of Thursday to Friday (March16/17), a new layer of snow is expected, more consistent on small areas, particularly in the Southern and Eastern Carpathians.
Temporarily, wind intensification will have speeds of more than 60-70 km/h and wind gusts on the highest peaks might exceed 80-90 km/h.
Temporary intensification of wind to speeds of 50-60 km/h will be registered in the other areas, particularly in eastern, northern and central regions.
On the night of Thursday to Friday (March16/17) precipitations will turn into sleet and snow in eastern and south-eastern Transylvania, in smaller areas in Moldavia and isolated in Muntenia.
