Employees of the health system are staging a two-hour warning strike on Monday, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Trade unions announced they had also gathered all signatures to initiate general strike on Friday, May 11.

Hospitals are picketed by the employees who are not on duty, while the staff currently on duty is staging a white armlet strike at work.

Sanitas trade union has asked for the salary rise for all the staff working in healthcare and social assistance, as well as to negotiate and sign the Collective Labour Agreement.

We have a new salary law that is incomplete and discriminating, which has generated a true crisis in Healthcare and Social Assistance. We must determine the rulers to find solutions to solve the crisis, according to the pledges made when they came to power,” reads a Sanitas press release.

Trade unionists say the incomes of a part of the medical staff has considerably climbed down, as they have lost their increments.

Representatives of the healthcare trade unions are meeting PM Viorica Dancila, Health, Labour and Finance ministers on May 8 to find solutions to their demands.
