Weather Alerts Issued: Icelandic Cyclone to Drop Temps by 15°C
A cyclone is approaching Romania, with the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issuing a yellow code of heavy rains targeting nine counties in the west of the country.
Meteorologists announce that on Tuesday there will be heavy rainfall in several areas, a yellow code warning being issued. Monday, in the south of Banat, it will be windy. The code yellow weather warning is valid between September 10, 06:00 and September 10, 21:00, when quantitatively significant showers are reported in several areas.
“In the south of Banat, south-west Transylvania, north-west Oltenia, as well as in the Western Carpathians and the west of the Southern Carpathians, there will be quantitatively significant showers. Especially through accumulation, the quantities of water will be 20…25 l/m2 and isolated more than 30…40 l/m2″, according to ANM.
Throughout Monday, the wind blow in the south of Banat, with speeds generally of 50…60 km/h, meteorologists say. An Icelandic cyclone approaches our country and causes the weather to change radically.
Temperatures will drop as low as 15 degrees towards the end of this week, with many areas experiencing freezing temperatures. Strong storms are also announced.
Elena Mateescu – ANM director general explained: “From Tuesday, the weather will cool down, at first in the western half of the country, where the maximums will not exceed 20-24°, while in Bărăgan, Dobrogea and Moldova the temperatures will still record limits of up to 29°C. But the significant cooling will be at the end of the week, especially from Saturday, when the highs will not exceed 18, possibly 20°C. From values of 30° during the day, it is possible, even from Saturday, to record, as we said, values 10-15° less, and in depressions to even approach 0°C, given the special air mass of cold that will also approach the area of our country at the end of next week. The precipitation area will be expanding, locally significant amounts of water, 20-30l/m² and last but not least, wind gusts with speeds of 55-75km/h.”
