Weather forecast for the upcoming weekend: Mixed falls, glaze and freezing rain
According to the National Meteorology Administration has issued a new alert for mixed falls, snow showers, glaze and freezing rain valid until Sunday at 10:00. The freezing rain will first appear in Banat, Oltenia, Muntenia and Dobruja and will also extend in Transylvania.
Freezing rain is the name given to rain precipitation that freezes on contact on surfaces maintained at temperature below freezing by the ambient air mass. Unlike sleet, a mixture of rain and snow, ice pellets, or hail, freezing rain is made entirely of liquid droplets.
Rainfalls, snowfalls and sleet will prevail in most of the regions in the upcoming days. Snow showers will be mainly in the southwestern territory, in Banat mountains area.
Snowfalls will turn into sleet and glaze frost is expected in Oltenia, Muntenia, Dobruja and Banat.
In Bucharest, there are high chances for sleet, glaze and freezing rain as well. The weather will be frosty in the morning during March 2, 8 a.m.-March 3, 8 a.m, with the highest temperature of minus 3C and the lowest one ranging from minus 8C to minus 7C.
The weather will get warmer in the Capital on Sunday, with the maxim temperature of minus 2C expected and the lowest ranging from minus 6C to minus 4C.
