Weather forecast: Temperatures to drop during the weekend
The meteorologists have issued an Orange Code for blizzards in the counties of Brasov, Covasna and Sibiu (central Romania) with wind gusts of over 90 km/h at altitudes higher than 1,700 m, valid until Friday evening.
In regard to the weekend weather, the temperatures will drop in most of the country with highs of -2 to 8 degrees Celsius and lows of -11 to -1C, even lower in depressions. Fog is expected.
Snow will fall in north-eastern and central Romania, on isolated areas in Maramures (north-western Romania) and in Eastern Carpathians and in the mountainous regions. In Moldavia and Transylvania fog will be dense in the morning and during the night, frozen glaze is likely.
In Bucharest the skies will be cloudy, with low and moderate winds. Temperatures will slightly drop. Highs of 6-7C and lows of -4C are expected.
On Thursday night and on Friday important quantities of snow fell in the northern and central regions, making traffic difficult and causing several road accidents. Traffic was slowed on DN1 between Brasov and Ploiesti. Three persons were wounded as a car skid and fell on Friday in a ravine while descending from Cota 1400 to Sinaia.
