Weather warning for mixed precipitations in northern half of Romania, Code Yellow in north-western counties

The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued a warning for mixed precipitations, with grazed frost and wind gusts in the mountains, mainly above 1,500 metres altitude. Glazed frost is expected in the plains of the northern half of the country.

The warning comes into force at 5.00h on Saturday and will end on Sunday at 18.00h.

During this interval mixed precipitations will be recorded with glazed frost and wind gusts of up to 50-55 km/h.

On the night of Sunday to Monday and on Monday precipitations will be registered in all regions, heavier in the mountains – snowfalls.

Another warning has been issued on Friday, regarding a Code Yellow for blizzard and snowfall coming into force as of Saturday at 5.00h until Sunday at 18.00h.

The Code Yellow concerns the mountainous areas of the Satu Mare, Maramures, Bistrita Nasaud and Cluj counties, mainly at altitudes above 1,500 metres, with temporary snowfall, leading to a consistent snow layer, with winds of more than 80 km/h. Low visibility is expected.
