The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has updated the Orange Code and Yellow Code warnings for frost and has issued a warning for mixed precipitation and glazed frost, moderate snowfall and wind gusts, in force until Sunday morning.
During March 1, 14.30h – March 2, 20.00h the Orange Code warning is in force in Moldavia, eastern Transylvania, Muntenia, Dobrogea and locally in Oltenia, with persistent frost, as temperatures will fall similarly to the latest period.
In 26 counties and in Bucharest the highs will range between -12C and -6C and the lows between -22C and -12C, on isolated areas even lower, to -26C. On the night of Friday to Saturday in Moldavia and isolated, in the rest of the country, temperatures will remain below the frost level of -10C.
As of Thursday afternoon until Friday, 11.00h, the Yellow Code warning is in force in 16 counties in Banat, Oltenia, Crisana and Transylvania. The cold wave will be persistent with temperatures lower than -10C and -15C. Highs will still be below zero, with frost in the morning and during the night.
As of Thursday, 23.00h, a warning for mixed precipitations, glazed frost, moderate snowfall, snow layer and wind gusts will be in force.
ANM says that, until Sunday 10.00h, temporary precipitations will occur in most regions.
Snowfall will take place mainly in the south-western part of the country, in Banat Mountains and the western part of Southern Carpathians, with wind gusts of 55-60 km/h and in high mountains of 70-90 km/h.
