Which were the Romanian cities most affected by WannaCry ransomware?
Three cities in Romania have been affected the most by the “WannaCry” ransomware.
The cyber attack has acted most efficiently in Bucharest (92 IPs affected), Iasi (38 IPs affected) and Cluj (15 IPs affected), the Romanian National Computer Security Incident Response Team- CERT-RO informed on Tuesday.
Other cities are also in the top: Piteşti (11 IPs affected), Galaţi (10), Timişoara (8), Sibiu (7), Câmpulung Muscel (5), Craiova (5), Râmnicu Vâlcea (5). Mioveni and another two towns had 3 to 4 affected IPs, while 92 localities had less than two IPs affected by the ransomware.
“In the past days, users around the world have been infected by the WannaCry ransomware campaign. The attack is extremely severe, and its spread is still ongoing,” the CERT-RO says in a press release.
So far, the Romanian National Computer Security Incident Response Team received three notifications of WannaCry incidents: two from public institutions and one from a private company. Among the affected systems associated to 326 public IPs there are companies in the energy sectors, transports, telecom or carmakers, but also six public institutions. However, CERT-RO says that data don’t reveal if there are the institutions’ systems or if there are IPs used by third parties.
