The young couple injured in the Westminster bridge attack was on vacation in London to celebrate the man’s birthday on Friday.
Andrei Burnaz and Andreea Cristea from Constanta (southeastern Romania) were on the Westminster Bridge when the attacker drove his car into the crowd. The woman is in critical condition in a hospital after undergoing a brain surgery and facing lung problems. She was hit by the car and practically thrown away in the Thames. Rescue teams recovered her from the water and took her tot the hospital.
The man was also injured, but had minor wounds and was discharged this morning.
Andreea Cristea is an architect and Andrei Burnaz an engineer. A friend of the man disclosed that Andrei planned to propose Andreea during their trip to London.
The Romanians were also to meet a friend, Patrick Tracey from Derbyshire, who told The Telegraph that he is in shock. “They didn’t make it to the meeting. I called them and heard cries and I realized something was wrong. I am in shock,” the English friend said.
