Wizz Air flight disruptions to and from Romania due to heavy snowing in the United Kingdom

Heavy snowing and adverse weather conditions (freezing fog) have hit the United Kingdom on 11 December, which has led to major disruptions in ground public transportation and all airlines flying in and out of the UK.

The disruptions in the local ground public transportation has prevented airport personnel (e.g. security check agents, ground handling agents, aircraft de-icing personnel) to reach their workplace, while the 10+ centimetres of snow accumulated on the runways and other parts of the airports have prevented airlines to depart or land at several UK airports.

Wizz Air has also been affected by these unexpected circumstances and unfortunately had to cancel or heavily delay some of its flights to and from London Luton and London Gatwick airports.

Wizz Air’s teams are working hard to restore normal operations however at this stage there are a number of factors outside of the airline’s control. Wizz Air has informed its passengers which have booked directly through wizzair.com or its mobile app about the current situation and their options to rebook their flights, while passenger booked through an intermediary should turn to these companies for further information.

The airline is working hard with its local partners to provide hotel accommodation to the stranded passengers, but Wizz Air advises that due to the tens of thousands of stranded passengers at several UK airports, finding proper accommodation might take longer than expected.

Wizz Air is dedicated to resuming normal operations as soon as possible, and thanks its passengers for their understanding and support during these difficult times.
