Wizz Air launches new route to Lamezia Terme, southern Italy

Wizz Air low-cost airline on Friday announced a new route operational from the base in Bucharest. The new route will connect Romania to Lamezia Terme in southern Italy, as of March 26 next year. There will two weekly flights, every Thursday and Sunday. Tickets are already available at wizzair.com for the price of RON 99.

We are pleased to bring more good news to our customers in Bucharest today by announcing the 45th route from the Capital. The new route to Lamezia Terme and Italy’s beautiful southern coast is another sunny destination available at discounted tarrifs starting March 2017. Today, we stress our commitment to Romania one more time as the largest low cost airline and we stay focused on expanding our growing network with attractive services to satisfy the best our clients’ needs in Romania,” said Tamara Vallois, Head of Communications Wizz Air.

Wizz Air is currently operating 122 routes from Romania to 18 countries, from 10 local airports. Over 600 people are working for Wizz Air Romania.

The airline estimates to grow its fleet in Romania to 20 planes by the end of 2016, including four Airbus A321 aircrafts, providing 230 seats.

This year Wizz Air started 28 new routes linking Romania to the rest of Europe, including a domestic flight Bucharest-Cluj Napoca.

Another seven routes are expected to be launched by the end of 2016 and early 2017, including destinations to Tenerife, Hanover, Billund from Bucharest and Paris Beauvais and Venice Treviso from Craiova, but also to London Luton from Satu Mare’s newest airport.

Over 5 million passangers have been transported from and to Romania during August 2015-August 2016.
