Woman in Cluj gets EUR 20,000 compensation after tripping over a nail in the parking lot of a DIY store

A woman from Cluj received compensation of 20,000 euros after she tripped over a nail in the parking lot of a DIY store, fell and broke her nose. The woman went to the DIY store, and in the parking lot she tripped over a nail-sized metal dowel and fell.

As a result of the incident, she broke her nose and dislocated her right shoulder, requiring several days of medical attention. He wore a brace for almost three weeks and went to physical therapy sessions for six months.

The woman sued the store and asked for moral damages in the amount of 200,000 euros, but the judges reduced the amount to 20,000 euros. The decision is not final and can be appealed to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.

The representatives of the store claim that if the woman had been more careful and if she had followed the traffic rules in the parking lot, this situation would not have come to this.

However, the judges contradicted them and said that at the time there were no special pedestrian crossing lanes in the store’s parking lot.
