Black Sea ports are closed. More than 5,000 without power in Arges County.

A Yellow Code is in place until 8 p.m. Saturday for snow and wind. Due to the powerful winds, all Black Sea ports have been closed down, Digi24 informs.

The authorities met Friday evening to take all measures in order to prevent problems and take emergency measures. Bucharest officials vowed no problems will be met.

The code is valid for most of Romania, except for the north-western regions. Glazed frost was expected in Alba, Sibiu, Brasov, Covasna, Harghita and Mures counties.

CNADNR (the authority for national roads) recommends drivers to avoid long trips and to have winter tires, a sack of sand and a shovel, to drive carefully and use the engine-break. It reminds for emergency the central winter department is to be called to 021/9360 or 0800.80.9360.

More than 5,000 people in Arges County have no electric power, due to wind gusts.

At the seaside wind is blowing with over 70 km/hour, waves are 4-5 metres high. According to the National Meteorology Administration the snow layer has already reached 50 cm in some parts of the country.
