Yellow Code warning for storms in 12 western counties. High thermal discomfort in the rest of Romania

The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued a Yellow Code warning for heavy rain and thermal discomfort in 12 counties in western and north-western Romania, valid from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning.

The counties that come under the Yellow Code are Mehedinti, Gorj, Caras-Severin, Timis, Hunedoara, Arad, Alba, Bihor, Cluj, Satu Mare, Salaj and Maramures.

During June 20, 14:00h – June 21, 11:00h, in the Banat, Crisana, Maramures and in western Transylvania and Oltenia regions there will be periods of increased atmospheric instability. Torrential rain, frequent lightning and wind intensifications will be registered as well as storms and hail. Rainfalls will exceed 20 … 25 l/square metre and isolated 50 l/sq m.

According to meteorologists, the afternoon of Monday, June 20, in the southern, eastern and central regions the local thermal discomfort will be high and temperature – humidity index will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units.
