‘Aferim!’, in U.S. cinemas starting January 22

“Aferim!” feature film directed by Radu Jude will run in cinemas in the United States since January 22, the producers’ representatives informed Agerpres.
The film will run in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco cinemas. “Aferim!” feature film directed by Radu Jude is Romania’s proposal for Oscar 2016 at “the best foreign language film other than English” category. Also, Jude’s film was nominated for the European Film Academy Awards in the category “Best European scenario”.
“Aferim!”, winner of the Silver Bear trophy for the best director at the Berlin Film Festival, won numerous other awards: Lisbon City Trophy and Prize Distribution at IndieLisboa, Le Bayard d’Or for best picture at Namur, the Audience Award at Let’s CEE Vienna and FIPRESCI distinction at Miskolc in Hungary.
The film is the most successful Romanian film in 2015 so far, recording nearly 77,000 spectators in the theatres.
“Aferim!” is a HiFilm production, co-produced by Klas Film Bulgaria, Czech Endorfilm, Mulberry Development Romania, with the participation of Nu Boyana Film Studios U-Films, XMG Media Production, Abis Studio, Division Camera in association with EZ Films and HBO Romania.
