After the famous “check-in” mistake made by rapper Snoop Dogg, Bogata village in Mureș county, Romania became more and more famous, made its own website for touristic promotion and now, a jazz festival is to be hosted there soon.

Jazz in the Park festival will hold a special edition at Bogata on April 3rd, on the commune’s football pitch, the organizers informed on Friday. Artists such as Maria Răducanu, Jazzybirds, Les Nuages and Danaga will come to the already famous village to perform within a special edition.

Organizers expect 1,000 people to attend the festival, as they say, the weather forecast is good, around 20 Celsius degrees. Participants will enjoy several concerts, a mix of jazz, electro, classic music and rock, while they can also make donations in a fund raising campaign intended to set up a park in the commune.

It would be a pity that this episode should be only a reason of debates and jokes on the Internet. Bogata commune is very popular now. We’ve been there and seen the place: the village is surrounded by Mureș River from three parts, it hides an ancestral silence and a great beauty and people are hospitable and creative. If the local administration, the community and Romanians overall are pulling up their socks, Snoop might change the locality’s fate, by great chance,” said Alin Vaida, the director of the jazz festival.

He added that a parking will be set up so that people willing to come to Bogata should have a pleasant stay, while a lots of interesting activities ar also in store: tours of the village, activities for children and meeting with the locals.

After he informed by mistake about the Bogata check-in (instead of Bogota, Colombia), American rapper Snoop Dogg announced a week ago that he would visit of the Mures locality with only 2,000 inhabitants.

Snoop Dogg himself has announced on his Facebook page he will come to the commune in central Romania after the invitation launched by Laszlo Barta, the mayor of Bogata. “i just steve harveyed my own chit hahahhaha ! shoutout to my romanian fans, tha boss dogg comn thru real soon !!! ‪#‎visitbogata“, reads the rapper’s post.

The American rapper’s error prompted the small Romanian locality to produce a touristic promotion site, visitbogata.com.

“Snoop Dogg checked into Bogata, Mureș, by mistake, but you don’t have to! Find out more on how you should visit and check-in for real,” reads the website description.

“With only 2000 inhabitants, the commune, situated at approx. 5.5 hour-drive from Bucharest, is the perfect location for a relaxing vacation. Close to Cluj-Napoca, Mediaș, Sighișoara and Târgu Mureș, Bogata is the perfect place to be if you want to relax in nature and take in all it has to offer.

Either you plan a longer vacation in the area, or a short break from the hustle and bustle of the city, Bogata awaits you. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, comfortable shoes and get ready for the chilliest weekend you could imagine.”

The website also has a search engine so that tourists can find out how can they get to Bogata and how much their trip will take.
