The International Literature Festival in Bucharest (FILB) will be presented within ongoing Edinburgh Festival (August 7-31).

Oana Boca Stanescu, one of the festival’s founders will lecture about the festival’s history and all its seven editions in Edinburgh on August 24.

“Edinburgh Festival is a necessary ‘training’ that any cultural manager had better pass through, in an ideal world. I am lucky that I have the opportunity to try understanding how it is possible to manage the presence of over 30,000 artists from more than 70 countries within a single project. Then, I am glad I have the chance to find out, on the scene, more about the British literary space, the cultural area where most of the FILB guests have been coming from during its seven editions. Besides, the fact that I will publicly present our little festival in Edinburgh, that’s almost fantastic,” Oana Boca Stanescu told a press release.

She is among the 11 cultural managers selected to attend this year’s edition of Edinburgh Festival, next to other organizers of literary festivals from Columbia, Palestine or India. British Council Romania is the one that registered FILB in the competition while supporting Stanescu’s presence in Scotland.

During its seven editions, FILB welcomed 76 international writers from 23 countries, being the most important international independent literature festival in Romania.

The 2014 edition of the festival gathered the most numerous writers- 19 authors from 3 continents and 10 countries: Brazil, Palestine, Malta, Ukraine, UK, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, Republic of Moldova and Romania. The festival also included events dedicated to mainstrain and SF literature. British Council Romania hosted a literary SF evening having pe Paul McAuley and Richard K. Morgan as guests.

Edinburgh Festival comprises this year 150 theater, musical, literary, street and indoor events.
