Bucharest lights up for Christmas on November 29
This year, Christmas lights have already been installed in the central areas, on the greatest boulevards, and are ready to light up Bucharest on November 29, earlier than last year.
November 29 also opens the winter season with Bucharest Christmas Market, fair that gathered 80.000 people last year.
Bucharest Christmas Market takes place in University Square and Cismigiu Park, between November 29 and December 28, 2014.
Baia Mare sets the tallest Christmas tree in Romania
Romanians from Baia Mare prepare themselves for Christmas adorning the tallest Christmas tree in Romania, 33 meters height. The fir tree is brought from Izvoarele, Gutai Mountains, being a donation of Baia Mare Forest District. Locals had to use a special elevator to garland the tree and they are set to light it on National Day, December 1st.
Christmas Market opens at the heart of Sibiu
Sibiu Christmas Market is one of the most popular events of the year in the city, being the first traditional Christmas Market opened in Romania. Milions of coloured lights lightened the city of President-elect Klaus Iohannis, in an impressive show attended by 4,000 people.
For a month, visitors can find here thousands of traditional or folk-inspired products, from handmade candles, Christmas decorations, fur coats and accessories to toys made of ecological materials. While you’re shopping for gifts, you can enjoy winter kickshaws like fruits dipped in chocolate, fruit pancakes, delicious products from the Hungarian cuisine.
Tourists can enjoy a city break, including a city tour, a visit to the Council Tower (Turnul Sfatului) and relaxing moments at The Public Bath, the oldest spa in Sibiu.
This year Sibiu Christmas Market lasts until December 26. The entrance to the fair is free.
