Bucharest National Opera and the Madrigal Choir announced the “Classical Christmas Market”

Bucharest National Opera and the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, together with the National Program Cantus Mundi announces the organization of the first Christmas Fair in Romania that will highlight, exclusively, the classical music of the winter holidays – “Classical Christmas Market”.

For the first time in its centenary history, the Bucharest National Opera will host a Christmas Fair. “Classical Christmas Market” will be open to the public from December 3 to 31, 2021, outdoors, on the Esplanade of the National Opera in the center of Bucharest (Bulevardul Mihai Kogălniceanu 70-72).

“Classical Christmas Market” will be arranged on an area of ​​12,000 square meters and will contain scenery and fairytale settings developed around the skating rink, the main attraction of the fair. The public will also be able to enjoy the special stage of carolers, prepared for the shows and concerts of the children from the Cantus Mundi National Program and also the OCC Express – the train of the partners from the Comic Opera for Children, but also with the horse-drawn carriage, the traditional houses with holiday goodies and many other surprises, all sound colored with a lot of good music.

During the Fair, in the great hall of the Opera, several event performances will take place: the premiere of the centenary show “Lohengrin” by Wagner (directed by Silviu Purcărete – December 8, 10 and 12), the Evening of Young Choreographers (December 14), the ballet show ” The Nutcracker “by Tchaikovsky (December 15, 18, 23 and 29), the show” La Traviata “by Verdi (December 19 and 22),” The Wedding of Figaro “by Mozart (December 18) and” La Bohème “by Puccini ( December 29) – organized by the Bucharest National Opera, as well as the Christmas show of the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal – Marin Constantin”, entitled “On the way to Christmas” (December 16, 17).
