Bucharest National Opera Presents 14th Promenada: Puccini per Sempre

The traditional open-air performance with which the Bucharest National Opera opens its seasons has reached its 14th edition. This year, the Promenada Operei – Puccini per sempre will take place on Friday, September 27, and will feature 10 hours of music, artistic activities, and relaxation outdoors.

Main Event – Extraordinary Gala Promenada Operei – Puccini per Sempre

On Friday, September 27, starting at 7:00 PM, the Extraordinary Gala Promenada Operei – Puccini per sempre will take place on stage, showcasing an entire program of the great composer’s works. This concert is part of the events marking Puccini Year in Romania. Featuring soloists, orchestra, choir, and ballet of the Bucharest National Opera, with conductor Adrian Morar as a guest.

The event will bring together artists from the Bucharest National Opera, including sopranos Madeleine Pascu, Cristina Maria Oltean, Veronica Anușca, Irina Iordăchescu, Mădălina Barbu, Crina Zancu, Georgiana Dumitru; tenors Daniel Magdal, Alin Stoica, Andrei Petre, Liviu Indricău; baritone Adrian Mărcan; and ballet dancers Maria Gogonea, Răzvan Cacoveanu, Raluca Jercea, and Cristian Șușu, alongside the Choir and Orchestra of the Bucharest National Opera. The performance will feature an original light and video mapping concept, directed by Alexandru Nagy.

Among the arias and duets to be performed are: “Donna non vidi mai” from the opera Manon Lescaut, “Quando m’en vo’” from the opera La Bohème, “E lucevan le stelle” from the opera Tosca, “O mio babbino caro” from the opera Gianni Schicchi, “Vissi d’arte” from the opera Tosca, “O soave fanciulla” from the opera La Bohème, and famous arias such as “In questa reggia” from the opera Turandot and “Nessun dorma” from the opera Turandot.

The emotion and passion of classical music will intertwine with dance through the presence of the Bucharest National Opera Ballet and exceptional solo performances on the esplanade in front of the country’s leading lyrical stage.

Admission to the event is free and will start at 12:00 PM.

Opera Labyrinth – Outdoor Activities for the Whole Family

Opera Labyrinth is a sound journey into the magical world of opera, guided by the soloists of the Experimental Studio in Musical Performing Arts “Ludovic Spiess,” the Children’s and Youth Ballet Studio of the Bucharest National Opera, pianists Gabriel Gîțan and Bogdana Grecova, and dancers Raluca Jercea, Ana Toderică, and Horia Bucur.

The journey is directed by Alexandru Nagy, supported by PopCola, and will take place hourly from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the esplanade of the Bucharest National Opera.

The Opera Labyrinth experience is part of the Opera Verde project by the Experimental Studio in Musical Performing Arts “Ludovic Spiess,” which aims to responsibly use and reuse resources for the benefit of the new generation of artists.

The event space is divided into three specific areas:

  • Area A – food court area (food trucks);
  • Area B – stage (approx. 1,000 seats);
  • Area C – Opera Labyrinth and relaxation area;

    Now that peace has been achieved internally at the Opera, they can at last focus on their role of promoting culture! Please don’t mess with the artists, let then recreate and create. P.S. Increase public funding for Culture NOW.
