Cartarescu to shoot Best book prize next year

Writer Mircea Cartarescu will receive the prestigious award for the best book at the Fair in Leipzig in 2015 (Leipziger Buchpreis zur Europäischen Verstandigung), for the “Blinding” trilogy (Romanian: “Orbitor”), informs Humanitas as quoted by Mediafax.

A few months after the publication of “Blinding. The right wing” in German language (“Die Flügel”), translated by Ferdinand Leopold, Mircea Cartarescu receives a new literary award confirming the masterpiece status won by his famous “Blinding” trilogy, informs a press release.

The award of this literary prize will be made at the opening of the Book Fair in Leipzig, Germany, on March 11, 2015, at the city’s Concert Hall, and the “laudatio” speech will be held by German writer Uwe Tellkamp.

Mircea Cartarescu was born on June 1, 1956, in Bucharest. He attended the Faculty of Philology of the University of Bucharest and debuted as a poet. Gradually, he fenced off from poetry, dedicating himself almost exclusively to prose.
