Cellist Enrico Dindo, Pianist Mikhail Mordvinov Perform at Enescu Competition
Cellist Enrico Dindo, member of the jury in the Cello Section of the George Enescu International Competition, will give an exceptional recital at the Romanian Athenaeum, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., together with pianist Mikhail Mordvinov.
Enrico Dindo is “a cellist of exceptional qualities, a complete artist and a trained musician, with an extraordinary sound that flows like a splendid Italian voice”, as the great maestro Mstislav Rostropovich said when he awarded him the First Prize at the Rostropovich Cello Competition from Paris, since 1997.
Enrico Dindo accepted the invitation of maestro Cristian Măcelaru, the artistic director of the George Enescu International Festival and Competition, to support this recital, in the context in which maestro David Geringas could no longer participate in the event, due to health problems.
The evening’s program will include a repertoire composed of Robert Schumann – Fantasiestücke, Op. 73, Sergei Prokofiev – Sonata in C major for cello and piano, Op. 119, Robert Schumann – Adagio and Allegro Op. 70 and Nikolai Miaskovski, Sonata no. 2 in A minor for cello and piano, Op. 81.
Enrico Dindo was born into a family of musicians. At the age of six, he began to study the cello, and later graduated from the “Giuseppe Verdi” State Conservatory in Turin. Later, he worked with Egidio Roveda and Antonio Janigro. From 1987 he worked as first cellist of the “La Scala” Theater Orchestra in Milan, until 1998.
