With allocations of nearly 100 million Euros planned until 2030 through the Integrated Sustainable Development Strategy of the Danube Delta, Sulina is preparing to become a reference tourist center in the Delta area. These investments aim to support the development of infrastructure and tourism opportunities, thereby contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.

Among the main tourist attractions in the Delta are culinary, music, and film festivals, and Sulina will host the 8th edition of the Festival of Pirates this year, which will bring over 15 bands and artists, including Gypsy Kings, Loredana, Lupii lui Calancea, and many others.

In 2024, the number of tourists in the Danube Delta increased by nearly 15%, with approximately 164,793 people accommodated in the area, according to the National Institute of Statistics. Cultural events such as the Festival of Pirates have played an essential role in attracting this increased number of visitors.

”The presence of the festival in this context not only brings economic benefits but also contributes to the revitalization of local traditions, while promoting awareness of the cultural and ecological values of the region. The Festival of Pirates is not just a music festival; it is a celebration of the free spirit and the traditions of the Delta, where visitors can explore local gastronomy and interactive activities. We aim to provide a unique experience, tied to the historical and cultural richness of this region,” stated Gelu Tușu, organizer of the Festival of Pirates.
