French Daoud won the grand prize of the Jazz in the Park 2024

This year’s edition of Jazz in the Park was won by the French from Daoud, a band that impressed the audience from the first chords. They won a prize of 5,000 EUR and an invitation to perform at the Jazz in the Park festival from August 30 to September 1, which will take place in the Ethnographic Park in Cluj-Napoca.

The other prizes were:

2nd Place – Lyder Røed Quintet (NO), a band that successfully ambassadors what Classic Jazz means, will receive 3,000 EUR

3rd Place – Berlinezii de la Magro (DE), a band that bridges electronic music

Jazz Audience Award – Zouratié Koné Trio (BE), who delighted the whole park with their African sounds, received EUR 1,000

The best Romanian band: Nonconformist Anthology from Timișoara, a name that will make waves in the Romanian market, won EUR 1,000

Best Composition: Ukrainian Jazz Family Trio “Shekband”, a family of 3 brothers, the competition’s youngest members, who were perhaps the most passionate band in the competition

There were 5 more mentions given to some musicians who stood out: the drummer the band Abel Marton Cosmic band, the bassist of the band Zouratié Koné Trio, the young pianist from Shekband, the clarinetist of the band Nonconformist Anthology and in a spontaneous gesture, the jury decided to give a mention of encouragement to the band David Luca Quartet, the locals in the competition. Each mention consists of a prize of EUR 500.

In addition to the bands in the contest, special brand guests also took to the stages in the park: Roberto Fonseca Group, Elena Mîndru Quintet and the winners of last year’s contest, the Poles from Klawo!
