Over 60 guests from abroad are coming to the 10th edition of the Bucharest International Poetry Festival (FIPB), due May 13-19. From classics such as Ko Un, the most important South Korean poet, a four-time Nobel nominee, Marco Antonio Campos, one of the most awarded Mexican poets of the moment or Michel Deguy, winner of the most prestigious literary awards in the French speaking cultural space to authors on the rise like Robert Prosser (Austria), Krystyna Dąbrowska (Poland) of the experimental poetry or Usha Akella (India), the festival is ready to provide the public with the most varied events, from public poetry reading sessions, to Poetry-Face To Face dialogues or performances.

“Like in the previous years, the experimental night session this year, called Euphonia, is back with a new selection of acoustic, visual, performative and intermedia poetry, absolute premieres and other events especially designed for the event. Nine poets, Romanian and foreign artists and musicians will perform, by exploring the growing dynamic and hybrid extensions of this contemporary creation: multilingualism, shamanism, vocal and gesture improvisation, conceptual, video and electronic poetry. I would like to mention the presence of a legendary figure of the experimental poetry in Eastern Europe, Katalin Ladik, born in Novi Sad in 1942, whose work includes not only written, sound and visual poetry, but also performance, new music, theatre, film and radio theatre plays. It will be a rare chance to see her performing on stage at Apolo 111 and talking about her art in a meeting with the readers at Tranzit Gallery on May 15, at 7 p.m.,”said poetess Simona Nastac, curator of the project.

One of the most important sections are those dedicated to the foreign guests and to over 100 Romanian poets within a series of public reading sessions held at the Central University Library “Carol I” on 88 Calea Victoriei on a daily basis.
