Daniel Jones, editor of the popular Modern Love column in The New York Times, is returning to UNFINISHED from September 27-29 to lead a creative writing workshop. With over 8,000 stories read each year, Daniel will guide participants in crafting short love stories, emphasizing the importance of detail and honesty in this kind of writing. The workshop aims to remind everyone that love is all around us, constantly challenging and transforming us, whether it’s romantic love or something else. This is a unique chance to learn from one of the best editors and to delve into the art of capturing the essence of emotion.

Speaking about his return to Romania, Daniel Jones said: “I keep coming back to UNFINISHED because it’s a place of generosity and sharing. Everyone who attends is not only interesting but genuinely interested in one another, in their inner lives, and in how the world works.”

UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES – A Tradition for Daniel Jones

For the third year in a row, Daniel Jones is coming to Romania to read love stories submitted by those who wish to share them. UNFINISHED LOVE STORIES will happen again this year, and Daniel, along with the festival’s organizing team, invites anyone with a real, unpublished love story to submit it by September 20th to editorial@unfinishedlove.com. The story must be true, written in English, and no longer than 1,500 words.

Daniel Jones, along with Nicoleta Rădăcină, editor of the Romanian version of the Modern Love column, will select the best essays. The chosen stories will be edited by them and performed live by professional actors on the UNFINISHED stage.

What Else is Happening at UNFINISHED 2024?

The festival will take place in Bucharest, in a 4,000 square meter urban oasis that includes a historic greenhouse and a 153-year-old heritage house. For three days, the 3,141 participants will bring their ideas and aspirations to life through workshops, artistic performances, conversations, immersive installations, concerts, and wellbeing sessions, along with the much-anticipated gatherings around the table.

Born out of a desire to make people appreciate the value of others in their lives, no matter how different they are, UNFINISHED brings together guests from a variety of disciplines under one roof. Some of the featured guests at the ninth edition of the festival include community builder Monika Jiang, slow-fashion workshop founder Adelina Toma, Politică la minut founders Răzvan Petri and Dan Adamescu, poet Ben Okri, Via Transilvanica founders Alin and Tibi Ușeriu, and multisensory artist Grace Boyle.

How can you participate in UNFINISHED? As every year, participation in the festival costs time. The only way to gain access to the UNFINISHED community is by filing an application, where interested parties must share about themselves, their values, motivations, and what they bring to the festival with their presence. Registrations have opened on the website www.unfinished.ro/line-up, and only 3,141 participants will be accepted for this edition.

The UNFINISHED festival is held under the high patronage of the European Parliament. More details about this year’s edition and more speakers are announced on www.unfinished.ro and the event’s social media pages.
