“Europa” Opens 3rd LYNX Fest, Major Film of Recent Years
LYNX Festival returns to Brașov from June 4 to 9, 2025, offering a rich program for the entire family during the Pentecost mini-holiday: premieres of spectacular documentary films, large-scale photography exhibitions, children’s workshops, and numerous opportunities for dialogue between the public and international guests, local artists, and environmental NGO representatives.
The festival, initiated by the Romania Sălbatică Association and Forona Association, is the first Romanian event dedicated exclusively to nature photography and documentary film. Over its first two editions, it attracted more than 3,000 spectators to the big screen. Following last year’s sold-out screenings of all 13 documentaries—most of them sold out days in advance—the third edition will take place at the Reduta Cultural Center, allowing even more cinephiles and nature lovers to dive into the universe created by LYNX Festival.
“We’ve reached our third edition, and our excitement is just as strong as it was in the beginning. This year, the selected documentaries have a special focus on Europe, but we’ll also make memorable escapes to places like India and Namibia. The photo exhibitions are equally impressive, inviting visitors on an African safari or a journey around the world through the Milvus Photocontest. As for our guests, as always, they are extraordinary individuals from whom we have a lot to learn—one of them is even a legend in nature documentary filmmaking. I hope we’ve already sparked some curiosity, and for the skeptics, we invite you to Brașov to discover why this is an experience worth having,” said Dan Dinu, the festival’s artistic director.
The opening documentary film for this year’s edition is a spectacular one—not only because of the visuals it brings to the big screen, in a Romanian premiere—but also due to the story behind its production: over 1,000 days of filming across nearly 30 countries in Europe. Europe – One Continent, Five Worlds is the most ambitious German natural history series ever made and will be screened at the LYNX Festival Opening Gala on June 4 at 7:00 PM.
Produced by Christian Baumeister, who is also the series’ director and cinematographer, Europe spans six episodes showcasing the continent’s wilderness and biodiversity in more depth and detail than ever before—from the leopards of the Caucasus and polar bears of Svalbard to the blue whales off the Azores. The film is a tribute to Europe’s most stunning natural wonders—from icy northern expanses to rugged mountains, wild rivers, ancient forests, and even vibrant metropolises. The images were captured by around 30 cinematographers from 10 different countries, filming over three years in more than 50 locations, including Romania.
“I’ve always felt that Europe’s wildlife is often underestimated. With Europe – One Continent, Five Worlds, we set out to change that perception. After three years of filming in 30 countries, this series marks the first landmark exploration of European wildlife. My team and I aimed to capture the diverse beauty of Europe’s natural world—from iconic species to overlooked creatures—revealing hidden wonders right outside our door and in the continent’s farthest corners. For me, this series represents more than breathtaking imagery; it’s a tribute to Europe’s natural heritage, a love letter to our continent, and a call to protect our shared future,” said Christian Baumeister for the LYNX Festival.
Staying true to its core mission of raising awareness about the importance of nature in our lives, LYNX Festival continues to offer free access to all screenings and activities. The full program and advance reservation details will be announced in May.
