The tenth anniversary edition of German Film Days is kicking off exactly in a week, on October 16. 12 feature films with Romanian subtitle offering a wide perspective on the best German current movies will be screened at Studio Cinema during October 16-22, while Future Nuggets and Loved by Ghosts performance is scheduled at Club Control in Bucharest, reads a press release of the Goethe Institute in Bucharest.
The opening night will host the screening of „Victoria”, the thriller film directed by Sebastian Schipper, awarded the Silver Bear at Berlinale this year.
The festival ends with „B-Movie”, an essay dedicated to the western Berlinese avangarde of the 80s. The screen writer Mark Reeder, also starring actor, will attend the screening.
Reeder is not the only guests of the festival’s edition. Rene Frolke, the director of „Le beau danger” will also come to Bucharest, as well as Tatjana Brandrup, the female director of „Cinema: A Public Affair”, which tells the story of Naum Kleinman, the Russian film historian and curator of legendary Eisenstein archive. Jurgen Lemke and Andreas Marquardt, the script writer and the real character of „Tough Love”, are also among guests. The film tells the dramatic story of Andreas Marquardt, former martial arts champion but also one of the most redoutable pimps in Berlin in the 80s.
Who am I / Kein System ist sicher (2014) signed by Baran bo Odar is another film running during the festival, uneveiling an absurde comedy on the world’s rules.
Age of Cannibals / Zeit der Kannibalen directed by Johannes Naber last year talks about the inner world of three business councilors always hunting for the career and the profit.
Hiemat. The other homeland by Edgar Reitz is tackling German emigration to Brazil in the mid 19th century due to the poverty and despotism in Hunsrück region.
Le beau danger is a film dedicated to Romanian writer Norman Manea on his 75th anniversary.
