Former HBO Directors, Including a Romanian, Launch Romanian Film Production Company
Johnathan Young and Ioanina Pavel, former directors of HBO Europe, launched a new production company, May One, which aims to develop and produce high-end series in Romania for local and international audiences.
The two have been involved in several successful HBO productions made in Eastern Europe, including the Polish series Wataha (The Pack) and the Romanian-German thriller Hackerville.
As vice president of original productions at HBO Europe, Young oversaw HBO’s original series in the region. Pavel started as a development director at HBO Romania, working on series such as the drama Shadows and Hackerville, before going on to produce a variety of shows.
May One is based in Bucharest and intends to develop and produce high-end series to be shot in Romania, working with both local and international talent.
