Long Night of Shorts brings 25 awarded short films into the spotlight
25 short films from Europe, USA and Asia are racing for the ShortsUP Audience Award at the seven edition of the Long Night of Shorts event, due at Romexpo, Bucharest on Saturday, July 4.
Short movies from France, the Netherlands, Norway, Canada, USA, Great Britain, Italy, Japan and Romania will compete for the EUR 1,500 prize awarded by the audience. Cinemagoers will be able to vote for the favorite shorts from their mobile or tablet by an application available at www.shortsup.ro.
Romanian shorts will be represented by the winner of Next Film Festival 2015, “Where the heroine is hiding, then she comes to an unexpected encounter” by Tudor Cristian Jurgiu.
‘Love in the Time of March Madness‘ (USA, 2014) by Melissa Johnson and Robertino Zambrano, winner of Tribecca Film Festival is Melissa’s autobiography, a girl who reaches 2 meters and a half in height in the eighth grade. What could be the story of a brilliant basketball player is actually the funny history of some strange romances with too short and inappropriate men.
After midnight, fiction pops up with “Karman Line” (UK, 2014) directed by Oscar Sharp, awarded the best short film at BAFTA and the best comedy at Aspen Shortsfest. The film tells the story of Sarah, mother and wife, who is hit by a rare condition that sees her lift off the ground at a slow but increasing rate. Her husband and daughter are forced to come to terms with losing her.
Along short movies, the event brings along a photo appliance, a mapping video, funk and disco music, as well as workshops and a pop-up food court with cooking parade and the coolest urban cuisines.
