NexT 2015: 146 shorts, 17 sections, five days of festival

Five days of screenings and debates, 146 of the best short movies, displayed in 17 sections, special guests and a series of seminars are part of the new edition of the NexT International Festival to kick off on Wednesday at 7 pm at Cinema Studio in Bucharest.

Oscars Night, Monsters Night, the LGBT evening, Kung Fu NexT are just some of the programs not to be missed at this edition. This year, film lovers have the chance to meet Claire Denis at NexT, who is one of the leading authors of the contemporary cinema.

The first day of the festival brings emotions for the 14 participants in The Pitch contest, organized by ShortsTV. On Wednesday, starting with 12:00, at Carturesti Verona, they will present their projects in front of the camera.

The competitors to the EUR 5,000 prize are Anca Boariu (“Apartment for Sale”), Anca Oproiu (“The Flag, No. 1 St.”), Andreea Bortun (“When Night Meets Dawn”), Claudiu Iordache (“Spongebob Lunchbox”), George ve Gänæaard (“Motan’s Cat”), George Buzoianu (“My Father Died”), Ozana Nicolau (“Good Friday”), Paul Muresan (“Mom, Dad, I Have to Tell You Something…”), Raia the Souliman (“Forevers”), Ruxandra Ghitescu (“Ana is Coming Back”), Sarra Tsorakidis (“Years from Now and Only If You Look at It from Afar”), Sergiu Lupse (“Night Time”), Stefania Matei (“Portrait with Cake”) and Vlad Andrei Ghinea (“Bootcamp”).

The program is available at www.nextfilmfestival.ro and tickets were put up for sale on eventbook.ro, at Cinema Studio, Elvira Popescu and at Anthony Frost and Kyra Kyralina bookshops.

The ninth edition of the NexT International Film Festival takes place on April 15 to 19 at Cinema Studio, Cinema Elvira Popescu, CinemaPRO and at the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), Club Control, J’ai Bistrot, Carturesti, the Ciclop garage (6-8 Magheru Blvd.) in Bucharest.
