The famous French actress, film director and screenwriter Emanuelle Bercot comes in Romania for the first time in the opening of Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest (October 23-29) to present her „La Tête haute/ Standing Tall” movie, the same one that opened 2015 Cannes Festival. At Cannes, Bercot won the award for Best Actress for her part in Mon roi, a movie that the Romanian audience will also see within Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest.
On October 23, she will answer questions after the screening of „Standing Tall”, a movie written and directed by herself. With Catherine Deneuve and Benoît Magimel topping the bill, the movie is following Malony’s path from the age of six up to 18, when a judge and an educator are trying to save him. The young leading actor Rod Paradot is considered the year’s revelation in France.
Emmanuelle Bercot was also mostly praised for her part in Mon Roi, where Vincent Cassel is the partner of a woman who is laid up following a tragic accident.
Born in 1967, the director is known for Polisse (2011), Elle s’en va (2011) and Clement (2011). Her film Clement was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at 2001 Cannes Film Festival.
An Irrational Man directed by Woody Allen and starring Joaquin Phoenix, Emma Stone, Parker Posey and Amy by Asif Kapadia, presenting a revealing documentary about the climb and the decandence of Amy Winehouse will be also screened during Les Films de Cannes à Bucarest, as well as Une histoire de fou, the new Robert Guédiguian-labeled film, which resumes the topic of the Armenian genocide in Turkey. In the 80s, Aram, an Armenian-born young man from Marseille, blows up the car of the Turkish ambassador. A young byciclist passing by, Gilles Tessier, is seriously injured. One day, Aram decided to know the victim in order to try to convince him to become his cause’s spokesperson.
