‘The Judge’ opens the 3rd edition of the Psychoanalysis and Film Festival

The third edition of the Psychoanalysis and Film Festival will run 20 to 23rd November in Bucharest, at Studio Cinema and Elvira Popescu Cinema. ‘The Judge’, directed by David Dobkin with Robert Downey Jr, Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga and Billy Bob Thornton opens the festival on November 20 at Cinema Studio.

The film premiered at the opening of ‘The Toronto International Film Festival’, in September 2014. The preview in Romania is kindly brought by Freeman Entertainment.
‘The Judge’ tells the story of Hank Palmer (Downey Jr), a successful defense attorney in Chicago who returns to his childhood home where his father, the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. Hank sets out to discover the truth and, along the way, reconnects with his estranged family.

Andrea Sabbadini, psychoanalyst and director of The European Psychoanalytic Film Festival presided by Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci will be joining film critic Irina Margareta Nistor in presenting and analyzing Mr. Turner, directed by Mike Leigh, Saturday 22 November at Cinema Studio.
Within the festival Andrea Sabbadini launches his book, ‘Moving Images. Psychoanalytic Reflections on Film’,translated in Romanian by Irina Margareta Nistor.

‘Bernie’, directed by Richard Linklater Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine, ‘Clouds of Sils Maria’, directed by Olivier Assayas, with Juliette Binoche and Kirsten Stewart and ‘Les quatre cents coups’, directed by Francois Truffaut, with Jean- Pierre Leaud in a leading role are to be screened at the upcoming festival, which also includes a selection of national and international short films.

The third edition of the Psychoanalysis and Film Festival is organized by FAMart, with the support of CNC (Centrul National al Cinematografiei ) , Romanian Filmmakers Union and Romanian Cultural Institute.
