Flight Festival, the first edutainment festival in Southeast Europe
Flight Festival, the first festival in Romania that combines music, art and technology, returns in 2022 with a new edition, between August 26 and September 11, at Cioca Aerodrome and in 10 other locations in Timisoara. The latest trends in art and design, film screenings and live theater performances, workshops and exhibitions, as well as technological innovations will be available to festival-goers for 17 days.
JP Cooper, Sigala, Sigma, Dubioza Kolektiv, Subcarpati, Zdob and Zdub, Carla’s Dreams, The Motans, Grasu XXL or Dirty Nano are among the first artists announced by the organizers. New artists will be revealed in the coming months.
A meeting point for artists, filmmakers and film lovers alike, as well as entrepreneurs and innovators, Flight Festival is the first edutainment festival in Romania and South-Eastern Europe. The latest trends in art and design, film screenings and live theater performances, workshops and exhibitions, as well as technological innovations will be available to visitors for 17 days. The mix between music – art – technology is unique for festival-goers, offering them a multipurpose, constructive space, where they can have fun while discovering trends or meet other fans interested in the same cultural dimensions. Through Flight Festival, the concept of the festival reaches a new level: personal development is combined with entertainment in an interdisciplinary context, within a multi-venue urban event.
“Flight Festival is more than just a music festival: it is a cultural journey to multiple attractions in the fields of music, art and technology, a place for fun, where participants can develop new skills and gain valuable know-how. We set out to introduce the concept of edutainment in Romania and to transform Flight Festival into a multiverse in which festival-goers discover new things on their favorite beats, and art comes to life through technology “, said Ovidiu Megan, the founder of Flight Festival.
The first steps in the Flight Festival 2022 journey have already been made, by representing Romania, Timiș County and Timișoara County at Expo Dubai 2020 at the beginning of March. Participants from all over the world had the opportunity to discover the activities of the Flight Festival at the world’s largest exhibition hosted this year by Dubai. In 2021, the festival on the shores of Bega brought together over 250 artists and a total of 50,000 participants.
The 4 music scenes, 20 theater performances and multiple workshops offered to drama lovers, 33 film screenings accompanied by the presence of film personalities such as Cristian Mungiu, Irina Margareta Nistor, Florin Călinescu or inspirational conferences in the field of innovation and technology made from Timișoara a real tourist attraction despite the challenges of the pandemic.
MullenLowe Romania is the communication partner of Flight Festival and will sign the advertising campaign for this year’s edition. The MullenLowe team will provide creative and digital services and develop the communication strategy to contribute to Flight Festival’s goal of putting Timisoara on the map of festivals in Europe. Golin and Initiative Romania will complete the communication mix and ensure the online visibility of the festival, both on social media and in the press.
