The next ‘The Future Lab’ discussion will gravitate around how a product, a brand or a service can change the daily habits and lifestyle, eventually changing mindsets for a more sustainable living. Our speakers have a focus on designing solutions for a more systemic change and they are diligently going deep into research and into the complexity of the ecosystem they operate in.

But even more important, they understand the power of storytelling and that the ultimate change towards a more sustainable living and ecosystem will be driven by how we tell the stories so that the solution is desired, known and adopted by a much broader audience. We will explore this idea deeper in our conversation, learn more about the context and platforms for sustainable design and living in CZ and RO and how a supportive community can foster innovative solutions.

🔴Anna Marešová comes with a background in object design where she decided to integrate production to be able to ensure more sustainable solutions, also having developed her own brand Whoop·de·doo, which deals with women’s hygiene and intimate health, where she brings the power of amazing design to change the narrative about these products.
🔴Alexandra Urcan is an impact entrepreneur in the textile field with a passion for understanding from within and changing the full textile industry ecosystem from the seeds and the health of the land to each step in production till the final product.
🔴Ionuț Ruscea comes with a communication and advocacy background in the areas of environment, waste, circularity, having developed his own solution for individuals and companies to track and manage their impact on the environment, as well as helping companies to become more sustainable.
🔴 The moderator of the discussion is Raluca Simiuc, a brand crafter with passion for impact business, co-founder of OTOTO – opened in 2021 to provide a platform and the right context for beautiful, small brands, crafted with purpose and design, passion, care for the people and the planet.

The discussion will be held in English.

The Future Lab is a series of events dedicated to the theme of sustainability, organized by the Czech Centres network on the occasion of the Czech presidency of the EU in the second half of 2022. In Bucharest, the program will consist in 4 events dealing with sustainability from different perspectives – science and greenwashing, design and innovation, communities, urban infrastructure and food.

As a framework, the 4 events will unfold next to the exhibition ‘ECO? Designul ceh în drum spre sustenabilitate’, which presents examples of eco-designed products, together with their stories and an assessment of their impact. The aim of the exhibition is to open a wider critical debate on what sustainability actually means.

The Future Lab is organized by the Czech Centre Bucharest, in partnership with Embassy of the Czech Republic, Romanian Design Week, The Institute, Ototo, Revista Zeppelin, Bucharest Science Festival, Mai bine, Baza, ARCEN, with the support of Budweiser Budvar.
