Christmas markets in the village, in the Transylvanian Hills
In the Transylvanian Hills (Colinele Transilvaniei), December is not just about gifts and crowds, but about moments that stay in your heart: small, charming fairs, hikes that reveal fairytale landscapes, warm meals and stories shared with people who love these places.
In Dumbrăveni, the small town located halfway between Sighișoara and Mediaș, on the banks of the Târnava Mare River, you have the opportunity to discover a small fair in the recently renovated center. In the shadow of the Armenian Church, the place is transformed into a story with local artisans, lights and surprises for children.
Not even 15 km further south, at the foot of the medieval fortification of Biertan, the Christmas fair on December 14 and 15 invites you with special gifts, carols and a fair of local products. If you are passionate about nature, at Copșa Mare, you can start the morning with a hike in the hills – 7 kilometers of peace, viewpoints and fresh air – and end it at Iarna în Bucate, where the meals are full of local flavors and the atmosphere is festive.
In Mediaș, the medieval fortress invites you to discover its secrets through a guided tour of the fortifications (December 20), and in the evening, you can enjoy concerts in the Evangelical Church: the Christmas musical for children Das Krippenspiel (December 14) and the Christmas Concert of the Churches (December 18). And if you want to enjoy the winter landscapes, come on December 21 to the Greweln Valley Tour or participate on December 27 in the Mulled Wine Trek, a warm and photogenic experience to end the year on a high note.
In Valea Hârtibaciului, time slows down and invites you to enjoy moments full of charm.
In Hosman, the Christmas market on December 14th transforms the fortified church into a place of celebration, where the community gathers for the joy of winter.
And in Brădeni, on December 18th, the Christmas market becomes a living space, where different people come together and sing carols in three languages, celebrating the spirit of the holidays together. If you want to treat yourself to a childhood vacation, Veseud 11 (December 23-27) awaits you with hearty meals, an intimate atmosphere and that feeling of home that only the village can give you.
