“Hector Malot” film wins NexT 2018 trophy
The 12th edition of the NexT International Film Festival has ended on Monday night with the prize awarding gala, with the big trophy (consisting of EUR 2,000 offered by the Romanian Cultural Institute) going to the short film “Hector Malot: The Last Day of the Year”, directed by Jacqueline Lentzou. The jury motivated its decision: “Elliptical in a subtle, amusing way, consistently surprising, the film represents a fresh approach over a familiar issue: the loneliness on New Year’s Eve.”
“Cristian Nemescu” prize for the best director (EUR 1,000) went to director Diogo Baldaia, for his movie “Mirage, My Bros”, for “being a captivating study over children, teenagers and youngsters (…) for representing the search of beauty in every moment”.
“Andrei Toncu” prize has been awarded to Pierre Sauze, the composer of the soundtrack of the film “I am Going Out for Cigarettes”, while “Ionut and Calin”, directed by Sorin Poama, has won the Prize for the best Romanian short film (EUR 1,000).
