Jaguar cub, the new guest star of Sibiu Zoo
People visiting the zoo in Sibiu these days can admire its new lodger, Mihai, a baby jaguar born in captivity. The cub was actually born three months ago but it was protected from any human contact to keep it safe from any harm. The baby jaguar was adopted by a lady dog that has breastfed the little one for one month and a half. Now, the cub weighs 4 kilos and chicken and beef are being gradually added to its meals, so it is ready to meet visitors. Mihai even found a playmate, a puppy the same age as it.
Mihai is not the first baby jaguar born at the zoo in Sibiu. Another one was born in May last year, also adopted by a lady dog. It was named May, after the month when it was born.
According to Sibiu interim mayor, Astrid Fodor, the city’s zoo shelters 245 animals from 60 species.
